Lanternfly with parasitic flies

I didn't notice the parasitic flies (Ceratopogonidae?) on this Pyrops oculata lanternfly / lantern bug when I took this image. Only noticed the flies when reviewing the images on my laptop.

I went to check on this lanternfly again 4 days later and the parasitic flies were still bugging this poor guy.

I made this short clip from a few stills and a short video from my trust point and shoot (compact camera). Enjoy!

This poor Pyrops oculata lanterfly was clearly bugged by the parasitic flies. Watch the clip and see how the lanternfly used its right front leg to chase the flies away. The flies kept coming back though.

More lanternflies / lantern bug here.

All images taken with my Canon 40D, Sigma 150mm F2.8 macro lens, Kenko 1.4x Teleconverter, macro focusing railcheap tripod and natural light.
